Chopper noise

Apparently the new service offering helicopter rides on Park Point is such a success that it is causing some racket for nearby residents. See email to councilors below:

Dear councilors:

I live about a mile from Sky Harbor airport. The DAA recently gave
permission for a company to conduct helicopter tours from the
facility. It was a gorgeous weekend, and I can assure you that the
tours were quite busy. They were still flying at 7:30 pm tonight
(Monday). I do not know how everyone else feels, but other residents
with whom I spoke also were astonished at the noise and frequency of
flights. I would like to enjoy being outside in my yard without the
incessant onslaught of this noise. I am extremely disappointed that
the DAA granted this license without ever considering the impact it
might have on neighbors. As far as I can tell, the DAA answers to no
one, including the mayor's office and the council.

I now pay over $7200 per year in property taxes (compared with $3853
in 2003). Doesn't that earn me the right of some respect from
governing officials? I simply do not have enough time in the day to
continually rise to the occasion each time something like this
happens, and to speak out to defend the qualities of life that brought
me here 25 years ago.

Sincerely,

Scott Wolff
