Update from Afghanistan

Just an update on Lindsay Schiller, 19, who I've profiled on this blog before she deployed to Afghanistan with the 114th Transportation Company out of Duluth.

Through Facebook, she sent me a message from the middle of the desert saying it is "very, very hot and dusty."

She writes, "We are sleeping in tents, but they have AC. Our missions are very long and it's all off road the whole way there. There isn't much action here at all for us at least. We're on a marine FOB (forward operating base) so the marines are what mainly do the patrols. Our mission for the 114th is just to supply another FOB, but we aren't doing our own security. (We roll out with mraps and they are our gun trucks)."

Lindsay has been in Afghanistan since July. She says she misses grass the most. "Which is really odd I just wanna smell fresh cut grass. lol," she writes.

She also says the food is "really nasty" and "we sweat more then you can imagine."
