The Duluth Police Department is in the process of setting up a Citizens Review Board which will give Duluth residents a chance to weigh-in on how police do their job.
Deputy Chief John Beyer told told city councilors tonight that police want to foster a greater level of trust with citizens. The department has yet to pick who will be part of the board, but those folks will be charged with being an independent body to review each complaint filed against police.
"This will be a second set of eyes on the police department," said Beyer.
Beyer says he hopes the board can begin reviewing complaints late this year or early next year.
