A Celebration For a Strong Man

We will be celebrating Gary’s life on Saturday, October 10th at 3pm at the First Memorial Funeral Chapel, Cremation Society, 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth.  A visitation/get together will begin at 2pm.  Service begins at 3pm.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments on this blog, the phone calls, visits and letters. Obviously this continues to be a difficult time for all who knew Gary – I keep reminding myself how lucky we were to have him for an additional 2 years… when many people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer aren’t given that “extra” time to enjoy life.  And enjoy life Gary did!  I am so proud of him.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss… from my time in DUluth I knew Gary to be a great person. Hugs and prayers go out to you from your friend in Idaho.

We’re sorry that we won’t be able to be at the
Celebration of Life, for Gary. We will be there in Spirit, and we send our love to all of you.

I hope the celebration is joyous and full of good memories of an incredible man. My thoughts will be with you. Also, do you have a preference for donations (other than Pancreatic Cancer, I assume)? The “Relay for Life” link says that event is over. Let us know how best we can honor Gary’s indominable spirit.

Grace and peace be to you and yours,
    Juji

  • So sorry that I couldn’t make the celebration on Saturday (currently on a long road trip – but I was definitely there in spirit). I’m certain it was an uplifting event – one that bore witness to the many admirable qualities that made Gary such a well-loved and respected husband, father and friend. I wanted to let you know that the prayers continue to flow for your continued strength and encouragement. May God continue to bless you Sue, Ben and all of Gary’s loved ones.

I was so saddened to hear about Gary’s battle and would like to extend my condolences to his family. I have not had contact with Gary since we were very little children and in grade school at the Sturgeon Lake school back in the the late 60’s. He was a very memorable part of my childhood and one of those forever friends you think about even as you have grown up and apart. I can only imagine the wonderful father, husband and man he grew into. My very sincere condolences for everyone who is grieving his passing.

    Sue,

My heart broke into pieces when I learned that Gary has gone to his Maker. Memories of our times at the Dancing with the Stars show with Gilles, our families and friends came flooding back to me. I know he was hurting then and I admired his courage and strength to enjoy the experience.

I wish I had words to comfort and sustain you in your grief, but there are none that will take away any pain. My heart aches for you and I have you and your family in my prayers.

Please accept these written words, futile though it may be, as warm hugs and know that I have you and your family in my heart at this sad and difficult time.

    Please keep in touch.

    With love always,
    Cheryl

The celebration was just that. I learned so much about my intelligent nephew that I had not heard before. It was wonderful to hear about him at work and all that he did there. He willbe missed by everyone that knew him. Love Aunt Pat
