Quick Update

I’ve been meaning to add some posts, but just haven’t had the energy or the ability to keep my mind on one task. I had a procedure done yesterday, which should really make a difference in being able regulate my comfort. I had been going in to

Still Fighting Update

Today was a better day for Gary. When I arrived this morning, I asked how he was doing… and he said (in a weaker voice) “Good. Real Good.” That was SO nice to hear. He said he had slept through the night.  I thought he looked better too. We cleaned him up, and he had [...]

Status: Still fighting

It is Tuesday, I am writing this from the hospital. They had hoped to do another paracentesis today, and place another tube into Gary’s abdomen so we could drain fluid instead of coming into the hospital every few days. Unfortunately the person to do that is gone until at least Thursday. They took out 2 [...]

Status Update: Sept. 6 & Sept. 8

UPDATE:  Just an FYI, Gary started a treatment today.  They gave him a liter of fluids, and a b vitamin drip called leucovorin.  That is used to help the 5-FU chemo drug.  He got to the appointment at 10:30 for labs, saw Dr. Ketchum just before noon and finished the fluids at 2pm.  They hooked [...]

Home (again) – 8/25/09

I’m home from the hospital! This morning they changed the drain in my liver. The procedure went well, I was awake during the prep and then I was talking to the staff as they were cleaning up. Modern anesthesia is a wonderful thing! This morning I had three intravenous doses of antibiotics, and they sent [...]

Status Update: August 25th

Quick update on Gary’s condition. He has been in the hospital since Saturday afternoon. They are taking him down to have his biliary tube replaced any moment now. It appears that the tubing may be what “caused” one of the infections. From what we have been told, Gary has a coliform gram negative rod that [...]

Status Update: August 22nd & 23rd

Latest News: Gary spent the night in the hospital. I was there until about 10pm last night, he had been having some chest pain again so they did a CT scan and EKG – the EKG was fine and the CT scan came back negative for a pulminary embulism. They figure the pain, [...]

Additional Status, Aug. 5th

I went in for the proceedure today. I didn’t find it very pleasent. The after effect made it worth it though. They were able to drain over 3 liters of fluid from my abdomen. I had some immediate relief for the pain in my abdomen. Now I’m able to breath deeply, and hopefully I’ll be [...]

Status – 8/02

Sue’s been telling me I need to update the blog. I’ve started a couple times, but they didn’t get past the draft stage. I’ve been going in for infusions of fluids three times a week.

Status Update: July 1

I know Gary is working on a blog entry, but he is having trouble finding the energy and focusing.  (Gary – feel free to edit this one okay?)  It has been so long since we have updated everyone on his condition and treatment, I thought I would jot down a couple of things.
